Welcome to Williamsburg Local Schools

It’s hard to believe we are finished with the first quarter of the 2018-19 school year. Our students and staff have had a great quarter and there are so many great things happening within our district.

As many of you know, Williamsburg Schools will be on the ballot on November 6th. This ballot issue is a RENEWAL, NOT AN INCREASE, of our five-year emergency operating levy, which has been supporting our students for several years. We are asking for the same amount as we did both five and ten years ago.

This levy generates approximately $997,000, which is a significant percentage of our budget. It allows us to offer stellar academic and extracurricular program options for our students with the finest staff available. This includes several AP, Dual Credit, and Honors Courses as well as supplemental programs in art, music, technology, health, PE, and career development. We continue to provide safe and reliable transportation to every student, including preschoolers, and continue to keep our athletic and extracurricular fees low to allow our students to experience vast opportunities outside the classroom.

Even though we have more students and are providing more programs then we were five years ago, we have decided to ask for only a renewal and not an increase. Our district continues to maintain excellence across our Four Bold Objectives of Academic Excellence, Accountability, Community Partnership, and Fiscal Stewardship. This Fiscal Stewardship goal encompasses our commitment of using every taxpayer dollar in a wise manner for our students and not raising taxes when we can “tighten our belt” and manage our increased student count and programmatic improvements. Other examples of fiscal stewardship are:

-Participation in the Ohio Checkbook
-Financial Reporting Awards from the Ohio Auditor of State
-Continued Shared Services with other local districts and entities to reduce repetitive costs -4th Lowest Per Pupil Spending in Clermont County thru controlled and efficient spending
-Energy use reduction year over year

Support for this levy is crucial. We do get a portion of our funding from state and federal sources, however the portion not covered must come from local tax revenue from the Williamsburg Schools community. Without this local funding, many of the wonderful things we are doing for students would not continue.
